CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. 76
A RESOLUTION VOICING THE CONCERN OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC WITH REGARD TO
ANY PROPOSED INCREASE OF WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION
FEE RATES AND STRONGLY URGING THE FLORIDA
LEGISLATURE, THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
COMMERCE, THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE
AND THE INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COMMISSION OF
FLORIDA TO OPPOSE ANY SUCH PROPOSED INCREASE;
AND URGING OTHER MUNICIPALITIES IN BROWARD
COUNTY TO LIKEWISE EXPRESS THEIR OPPOSITION.
WHEREAS, it has recently been learned by the City of
Tamarac that the National Council for Workmen's Compensation
Carriers has filed for an average increase of 23.2% in the
overall rate levels presently in force; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is concerned with the
aforementioned proposed rate increase and is further desirous
of expressing its concern to the Broward County Legislative
Delegation and to the Florida Department of Commerce and
Insurance and the Industrial Relations Commission of Florida
in order to focus attention upon the City's position as herein
expressed and to urce the Broward County Legislative Delegation
and the Florida Legislature, as well as the aforementioned
Departments of Commerce and Insurance and the Industrial
Relations Commission to oppose any such proposed rate increase;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1:
That the City Council does hereby voice its
concern and opposition to any proposed increase of Workmen's
Compensation fee rates and does hereby strongly urge the
legislature of the State of Florida Department of Insurance and
the Industrial Relations Commission of Florida to oppose the same.
SECTION 2: That by copy of this Resolution, other municipal-
ities in Broward County, Florida, be urged to likewise express their
opposition to such proposed rate increase.

SECTION 3: That copies of this Resolution be sent to all
members of the Broward County Legislative Delegation and to the
Florida Departments of Commerce and Insurance and the Florida
Industrial Relations Commission.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
