CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-77-141
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDA-
TION OF THE BROWARD COUNTY ENGINEERS
REGARDING THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH-
WEST 57th STREET AND UNIVERSITY DRIVE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is concerned for the health,
safety and general welfare of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, a large percentage of its population is of re-
tirement age; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is determined to provide
safe streets for its driving citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac desires to maintain N. W.
57th Street for local traffic and Commercial Boulevard for com-
muter traffic; and
WHEREAS, City Council feels the safety factor at the
Northwest 57th Street and University Drive intersection is of
such grave and dangerous nature, and as laymen, they are not
qualified to make such a serious determination, nor do they
feel the City has the qualified professional traffic engineers
competent and capable of making such a decision.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
SECTION 1: That the matter of Northwest 57th
Street and University Drive intersection is vital to the
health, safety and welfare of t<h6 citizens and the business

people of the City of Tamarac and being such a grave and
dangerous nature, the City Council does not feel they are
qualified to make such a serious determination, nor do they
feel the City has the qualified professional traffic engineers
competent and capable of making such a decision.
SECTION 2: That the source of the necessary traffic
engineering expertise is with the County Engineering Department.
SECTION 3: That inasmuch as the County Engineers
have determined that there should be no east -west through
traffic at Northwest S7th Street and University Drive, the
City does hereby accept the recommendation of the County
Engineers.
