CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R 77- / 7 a
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING
THE CONSTRUCTION OF SCHOOLS IN BROWARD COUNTY
AND URGING THE BROWARD COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD TO
SELECT THREE SITES IN PARTICULAR FOR THE CON-
STRUCTION OF SCHOOLS PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE,
WHEREAS, a great need exists for additional schools
throughout Broward County, and
WHEREAS, the Northwest Section of the County is the
fastest growing area of the County and has the greatest need
for additional schools in all three levels of education, and
WHEREAS, Tamarac, being a progressive City, recognizes
the need for additional schools in Broward ' County particularly
the Northwest Section of the County, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to help meet the needs
of all its citizens by supporting the construction of schools
to serve both the younger residents of Tamarac and the surrounding
communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY.THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA.
SECTION 1: That the City Council,
on behalf of the citizens
of Tamarac, strongly supports the construction of schools in
Broward County.
SECTION 2: That,the City Council urges the Broward County
School Board to select three sites in the Northwest Broward area
for construction of
a High
School,
North of the
C-14 Canal on
No 88th Avenue;
a Middle
School
on Inverrary
Boulevard, east
of University Drive; and an elementary school on N. W. 88th Avenue
between West Commercial Boulevard and N. W. 44th Street.
SECTION 3: The City Council strongly supports the construction
of the new schools in the future as the need arises in order to
insure the highest level of education for all
