A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO SUPPORT
THE CREATION OF THE BROWARD FIRE
ACADEMY,
WHEREAS, Broward County continues to be among the fastest
growing counties in Florida and in the United States, and
WHEREAS, the rapid growth of population in Broward County
has been accompanied by unparalleled construction of single family,
multi -units and high rise construction, and
WHEREAS, this rapid population growth and unparalleled con-
struction has created pervasive demands on local governmental units
to provide for fire protection services, and
WHEREAS, Broward Community College and the School Board of
Broward County through the local Coordinating Council for Vocational
Education have agreed to the cooperative development of a fire
academy, and
WHEREAS, officials of local governmental units in respective
municipalities and unincorporated areas of Broward County have
recognized the need for adequate fire protection and training of
fire service personnel, and
WHEREAS, local education agencies, government, fire control
agencies, and concerned citizens mutually recognize the benefit of
joint action to provide for effective fire service training and
education.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That
the
City
Council
hereby
declares
its
intention to cooperate and
to
lend
mutual
support
necessary
to create
the Broward Fire Academy, dedicated to increasing the efficiency and
effectiveness of fire personnel and fire fighting organizations in
Broward County and bringing the residents of Broward County greater

fire protection and the fire science profession an increased status
and respect.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this day of 1977,
