C I TY OF TAMARAC , FLORIDA
RESOLUTION N0. f- Z7 - ZCD
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SPECIAL TACTICAL
OPERATION PROGRAM OF WEST BROWARD COUNTY,
WHEREAS, the Polic.e' Chiefs of several western cities of
Broward County desire to participate in a cooperative project to
combat and reduce the increasing incidents of burglary, robbery and
auto theft in its cities; and,
WHEREAS, the project has been titled as a SPECIAL TACTICAL
OPERATION PROGRAM of West Broward (STOP); and,
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac wishes to apply through the
City
of Cooper City the lead
agency
for the
LEAA
Grant to fund
the
project under the Omnibus
Crime
Control
Act;
and,
WHEREAS, participation by the City of Tamarac in the STOP
project will entail the assignment of one police officer and a
commitment of a portion of the matching funds required; and,
WHEREAS, the Broward County Manpower Council has agreed to
make the funds available to the respective participating cities for
the hiring
of a police
officer for the
project.
NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA.
Section
1: That
participation by the
City
of Tamarac, Florida
in the Special
Tactical
Operation Program of
West
Broward County
hereinafter
given the short
title STOP, a
project
intended
to reduce
the criminal
activities in
and around the
City of
Tamarac
is in the
best interests for the general health, safety and welfare for the
residents.
Section 2: That the Mayor is authorized to enter into contractual
agreement with the Broward County Manpower Council for personnel needed
to replace the police officer from the Tamarac Police Department that

will be assigned to the STOP Project,
Section 3: That the Police Chief of the City of Tamarac is
authorized to assign one police officer to the project.
Section 4: The maximum matching funds to be contributed by
the City of Tamarac, Florida to the project will be Fifteen
Hundred Dollars ($1500.00) it being understood that these funds
are for gas and oil expenses of the Tamarac Police Officer assigned
to the project,
Section 5: It is further understood that upon the termination
of any Manpower Grant the City of Tamarac retains the option to
continue participation or cease participation in the STOP project.
Section 6: That this resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its passage.
