A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING n E ISSUANCE OF
A MAYORAL PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING THE
H)NM OF MAY 1977 AS POPPY MCNTH AND
PROCLAIMING MAY 27 AND MAY 28 AS POPPY
DAYS IN TF1E CITY OF TIC; PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
, the Americal Legion has designated the month of May, 1977,
as Poppy Month and has designated the 27th and 28th days of May, 1977, as
Poppy Days, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, recognizes
that the freedom enjoyed by the citizenry of the City of Tamarac and the
United States of America has been guaxanteed by the ultimate sacrifice of
so many American patriots, and
SAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, on behalf
of the residents of the City of Tamarac, Florida, is desirous of commemorating
those great American patriots who have protected America from her enemies, and
MEJEAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes the great fruitful efforts of
the organization known as the American Legion in honoring the Country's war
dead and in rendering aid to the widows and children of these great patriots
who have committed their lives to the safety and protection of America,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC ,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, on
behalf of the citizenry of the City of Tamarac, does hereby recognize and
reaffirm its gratitude to all of the war veterans who have sacrificed them-
selves in an effort to protect - the citizens of the United States of America,
without which the great American tradition of freedom would be imperiled.
SECTION 2: It is within the best interest of the citizenry of the
City of Tamarac to commemorate those great American patriots who have sacri-
f iced to protect the freedom en j oyed by all Americans and, therefore, the
City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, does hereby direct that the

Mayor issue a proclamat ion proclaiming the month of May, 1977, as Poppy
Month and the days of May 27th and May 28th, 1977, as Poppy Days in the
City of Tamarac.
SECTION 3 : This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its passage.
