CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R - 777777.5--'
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CITY COUNCIL OPPOSITION
TO THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY'S RULING
THAT ALL NINTH, TENTH, ELEVENTH AND TWELFTH GRADE
STUDENTS NEWLY MOVING INTO THE CITY OF TAMARAC
ARE TO ATTEND BLANCHE ELY HIGH SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, the School Board of Broward County has initiated a policy
that all ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade students, newly moving
into the City of Tamarac, be bused to Blanche Ely High School, and
WHEREAS,
the
City of Tamarac
is concerned with the health, welfare
and safety of
its
children, and is
concerned that the quality of treat-
ment be accorded to all of its children, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac feels that it is inimical to its
future development to deprive newly entering citizens of equal educa-
tional opportunities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The City of Tamarac expresses its disapproval of this
new policy by the School Board of Broward County.
SECTION 2: The School Board of Broward County be requested to
reconsider its policy so that the children of any given grade in this
city should have the right to attend the same high school.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 27 day of April , 1977.
