RESOLUTION NO. 2.--- 77- 2 6
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC ENCOURAGING THE BROWARD
COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO
ADOPT BROWARD COUNTY'S TECHNICAL
ADVISORY COMMITTEE'S ALTERNATIVE IMPLE-
MENTATION SECTION TO THE LAND USE PLAN
FINAL DRAFT AS PRESENTLY PROPOSED BY
THE BROWARD PLANNING COUNCIL.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the - City of Tamarac
acknowledges Broward Planning Council' s authority as set forth
in Section 6.05(D) of the Broward County Charter to prepare a
County Land Use Plan; and
WHEREAS, Section 6.05(G) of said Charter mandates
all municipalities to zone according to the Land Use Plan adopted
by the Board of County Commissioners within one year after adoption;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac has
cooperated with the County in submitting a municipal land use
plan and existing zoning map to the County for integration with
the County's plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac
adopted

wherein
the City formally opposed
Broward
Planning Council' s
adopted
Implementation Section to the
County Land Use Plan in that said legislation is wholly incon-
sistent with the State Home Rule Law and with the intention of
the County Charter as adopted and amended by the citizens of
Broward County; and
WHEREAS , the City Council has been apprised of an
alternative Implementation Section prepared and unanimously
adopted on April 14, 1977 by the Broward County Technical
Advisory Committee which not only meets the intent of the
Charter but also delegates to Broward County the review of
larger projects that possibly create a physical and economical
impact on the entire County.
Said Committee was created by
Broward County Ordinance No. 76-4, Section 5 to primarily
coordinate and advise the County and municipalities on technical
matters related to comprehensive planning in Broward County.

NOW, THEREFORE ,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City of Tamarac formally
encourages and urges the Board of County Commissioners to adopt
the Implementation
Section
to Broward
County' s
Land Use
Plan as
adopted by Broward
County's
Technical.Advisory
Committee
in lieu
of the Implementation Section hastily prepared by the Broward
Planning Council's Staff without. consulting with the local
municipalities who are ultimately empowered to control and
administer development under the Home Rule Act and the Broward
County Charter as amended.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk is instructed to communicate
a copy of this Resolution to each member of the Broward County
Board of County Commissioners immediately upon its adoption.
