CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.1 — IF-13P
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA, URGING THE BROWARD LEAGUE OF
CITIES, THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES,
AND THE MUNICIPALITIES OF BROWARD
COUNTY TO PETITION THE LEGISLATURE TO
AMEND THE CONSULTANTS' COMPETITIVE
NEGOTIATION ACT TO ALLOW COMPETITIVE
BIDDING FOR ENGINEERING AND SIMILAR
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES.
WHEREAS, virtually all purchases for goods and ser-
vices by the City are currently based on competitive bids; and
WHEREAS,the Commission believes that this method of
purchasing will secure necessary services at the lowest cost to the
taxpayers; and
WHEREAS, the United States Supreme Court has ruled
that it is now proper for Engineers to bid competitively; and
WHEREAS, the Consultants' Competitive Negotiation Act'
presently requires the City to follow the procedures of that Act
rather than soliciting competitive bids for services covered by the
Act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the Florida League of Cities, the
Broward League of Cities, and the municipalities of Broward County
are urged to petition the Legislature to amend the Consultants'
Competitive Negotiations Act to allow a municipality to solicit
competitive bids for engineering and other professional services
covered by the Act.
SECTION 2: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to
furnish a copy of this resolution to the Florida League of Cities,
the Broward League of Cities, and the mayors of the municipalities of
Broward County.
