2 RESOLUTION NO. R-7?-ZSU
3 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING BROWARD COUNTY TO PLACE
TRAFFIC SIGNALS ON PINE ISLAND ROAD AT THE INTER-'
4 SECTION OF McNAB ROAD AND AT THE INTERSECTION OF
"SOUTHGATE BLVD.

6 WHEREAS, the Tamarac City Council has entered into an
7 agreement with Broward County authorizing Broward County to determine
8 where and when traffic signals and other traffic control devices
9 are to be installed within the City of Tamarac, and
10 WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of that agreement Broward
11 County has agreed to seriously consider and act promptly upon reques
12 by the City of Tamarac for specific traffic devices; and
13 WHEREAS, Pine Island Road is going to be opening within
14 a short period of time and will extend from Coral Springs through
15 Davie; and
16 WHEREAS, it is anticipated that there will be a tremendous
17 increase of traffic on Pine Island Road when the new segment is
18 opened; and
19 WHEREAS, there is already considerable traffic at the
20 intersection of Pine Island Road -and McNab Road and at the inter-
21 section of Pine Island Road and Southgate Blvd.; and
22 WHEREAS, the installation of traffic devices at those
23 intersections will control traffic problems and accidents signficantl
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
25 THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
26 SECTION 1: That Broward County is urged to install
27 traffic signals at the intersections of Pine Island Road and McNab
28 Road and at Pine Island Road and Southgate Blvd. as expeditiously
29 as possible.
30 SECTION 2: That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded
31 to each County Commissioner, to the Broward County Traffic Enpineerin
32 Division, to the Acting County Administrator, and to the Director
33 of the Broward County Department of Transportation.
34 SECTION 3: This Resolution shall be effective immediately
