CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 23
TO OCTOBER 28, 1978 AS ELDER CRAFTS GUILD WEEK
IN BROWARD COUNTY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac,.Florida, is
aware of the contributions made by the senior citizens of Broward
County, and
WHEREAS, the time has come to recognize a need and aspiration
of our elder fellow -citizens, and
WHEREAS, in Broward County more than one-third of our people
are 60 years of age or over. Mainly they are retired, often on
fixed incomes now eroded by inflation. A great number of our elder
citizens are still able and eager to join the nation's work force,
at lease part time, and thus bolster their incomes and maintain
their standards of living, and
WHEREAS, our elder citizens have a great reservoir of by-passed
skills and shelved experience, waiting to be tapped and channeled
back into the mainstream of productive enterprise.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
Florida supports execution of a Mayoral Proclamation to designate
the month of October, 1978 as "Elder Crafts Guild Week" in Tamarac.
SECTION 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its passage.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this�d of 1978.
