A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING USE OF CONSENT AGENDAS
FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND REPEALING ALL
5
RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH

WHEREAS, the City Council meetings have a tendency to
8
become extremely prolonged,and
9
WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of shortening the
10
time for Council meetings, if possible, and if it would not hinder
11
the opportunity of Council members to discuss pertinent items, and
12
WHEREAS, Council meetings may be shortened considerably
13
through use of Consent Agendas,and
14
WHEREAS, Consent Agendas are used elsewhere in the County
15
and specifically by the County Commission of Broward County and

by the Hallandale City Commission, and
17
WHEREAS, the use of these Consent Agendas do in fact save

at Council meetings.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

SECTION 1: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to
22
prepare a Consent Agenda as a subpart of the regular City Council
23
agenda for consideration and action at City Council meetings. An
24
affirmative vote on the Consent Agenda will be deemed an
25
affirmative vote for all items appearing on the Consent Agenda.
26
Any councilmember has a right to request that any item on the
27
Consent Agenda be removed therefrom and be considered separately.
28
There will be no debate on this request and it shall automatically
29
be granted. Council will vote on items'not remove&" -from the
Consent Agenda.
SECTION 2: Those items be considered on the

of a noncontroversial routine type. These items could include,

approval of minutes, issuance of proclamations if there are no
members present in the audience to receive same, and routine
administrative matters.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: This resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
