CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R- % g- 4'1
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING BROWARD COUN
COMMISSIONERS TO AMEND ORDINANCE 78-
TO PERMIT MUNICIPALITIES TO COLLECT A
FEE FOR THE REGISTRATION AND IDENTIFICA-
TION OF LICENSED CONTRACTORS AND TRADES-
PEOPLE.
WHEREAS, the County requires all contractors and tradesmen
of the construction industry to be registered and licensed, and
WHEREAS, it is the custom of all municipalities to maintain
a roster of all registered tradesmen, and
and
WHEREAS, there is a cost factor in maintaining such records,
WHEREAS, the municipalities should be permitted to recapture
such costs, and
WHEREAS, such fees should not be viewed as a means to provide
large sums of monies to the municipalities, but more importantly as
a method of verifying the qualifications of contractors and trades
people prior to their doing work for citizens of the municipality.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The Council requests the Broward County Commis-
sioners to amend Ordinance 78- '? , to permit Cities to establish a
fee schedule for the registration and identification of contractors
and trades people.
SECTION 2: That the schedule shall not exceed an annual
registration fee of $25.00, for contractors and subcontractors, $10.00
annually for Journeymen, and $5.00 annually for Journeyman's helper.
SECTION 3: Copies of this Resolution shall be sent to all
members of the County Commission, all municipalities in Broward County,
and to the Broward League of Cities.
