CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R- 74P-d'a
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A
MAYORAL PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH
OF MAY 1978 AS POPPY MONTH AND PROCLAIMING
MAY 26 AND MAY 27 AS POPPY DAYS IN THE CITY
OF TAMARAC; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the American Legion has designated the month of May,
1978, as Poppy Month and has designated the 26th and 27th days of
May, 1978 as Poppy Days, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida,
recognizes that the freedom enjoyed by the citizenry of the City
of Tamarac and the United States of America has been guaranteed by
the ultimate sacrifice of so many American patriots, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, on
behalf of the residents of the City of Tamarac, Florida, is desirous
of comneewrating those great American patriots who have protected
America from her enemies, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes the great fruitful
efforts of the organization known as the American Legion in honoring
the Country's war dead and in rendering aid° to the widows and children
of those great patriots who have committed their lives to the safety
and protection of America.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida,
on behalf of the citizenry of the City of Tamarac, does hereby recog-
nize and reaffirm its gratitude to all of the war veterans who have
sacrificed themselves in an effort to protect the citizens of the
United States of America, without which the great American tradition
would be imperiled.
SECTION 2: It is within the best interest of the citizenry of
City of Tamarac to commemorate those great American patriots who have
sacrificed to protect the freedom enjoyed by all Americans and,
therefore, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, does

hereby direct that the Mayor issue a proclamation proclaiming the
month of May, 1978 as Poppy Month and the days of May 26 and May 27,
1978, as Poppy Days in the City of Tamarac.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its passage.
