WHEREAS, on August 14, 1979, the City Council of -the City of Tamarac, duly passed and adopted a Resolution authorizing thelssuance, subject to an election called to be held on October 9, 1979, of bonds of the City of Tamarac, and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City Council to prescribe immediately the method and manner of holding said election and provide for notice thereof. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: Notice of said election shall be published in the Fort Lauderdale News, a newspaper of general circulation, in the City of Tamarac, Florida, at least twice, once in the fifth week and once in the third week prior to the week in which the election is to be held, the date of first publication in said newspaper to be at least thirty (30) days before said election, which notice shall be substantially in the following form: NOTICE OF SPECIAL BOND ELECTION TO BE HELD ON OCTOBER 9, 1979 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA As provided by Resolution No.79-205 , duly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, on August 14, 1979, a special bond election will be held on Tuesday, OCTOBER 9, 1979, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the City of Tamarac, Florida, the following question: Shall the bonds of the City of Tamarac, Florida in an aggregate principal amount of not exceeding $ 15,000,000.00 be issued for the purpose of providing funds, together with any other available I I CJ 1 funds, for paying the cost of acquiring the water 2 treatment and distribution system and the waste- 3 water collection and disposal system owned by 6 Tamarac Utilities, Inc. and acquiring and constructing 5 improvements to such systems, such bonds to mature at 6 such time or times not exceeding forty (40) years from 7 their date or dates as may be determined by the t1ty 8 Council, and to bear interest at a rate or rates not 9 exceeding the maximum rate then permitted by law and 10 to be payable solely from the revenues to be derived 11 by the City from its ownership and operation of the 12 Systems, together with a certain portion of the 13 proceeds of said bonds? 14 The polls at said election will be open from 7:00 o'clock A.M. 15 until 7:00 o'clock P.M. of the same day. 36 As provided by the City Charter, applicable City ordinances and 17 State Statutes, the following polling places are hereby designated for the is special bond election which polling places may be changed by the Broward County 19 Supervisor of Elections, as provided by law. 20 14H Mainlands 1 & 2 Clubhouse, 4301 Mainlands Drive, Tamarac. 21 14L Mainlands 1 & 2 Clubhouse, 4301 Mainlands Drive, Tamarac. 22 14M Sabal Palm Club, 5000 Sabal Palm Boulevard, Tamarac. 23 14R Fair Haven Club #11, 5700 N.W. 84th Terrace, Tamarac. 24 14W Suite 119, Professional Plaza, 7300 W. The City of Tamarac shall be authorized to issue the bonds covered by the question hereinabove set forth when such issuance as set forth in said question shall have been approved by a vote of l majority of the qualified electors of the City of Tamarac voting thereon. STUURMANS City Clerk SECTION 2: Said special bond election will be conducted by the election officers selected and appointed by the Broward County Supervisor of Elections and will be held at the same polling places in the several precincts, respectively, in the City as the polling places for regular City elections held pursuant to the Charter of the City of Tamarac. SECTION 3: Laura Z. Stuurmans, City Clerk of the City of Tamarac, Florida, is hereby designated and appointed as the official representative of the City Council in all transactions with the Supervisor of Elections of Broward County in relation to matters pertaining to the use of the registration books and the holding of said special bond election. SECTION 4: The ballot used at said election for voting on the question submitted shall be that portion of the cardboard or paper or other material within the ballot frames of the voting machines which shall contain a statement of the question submitted. SECTION 5: Electors desiring to vote for or against the issuance of said bonds shall punch the appropriate box on the ballot card containing the words "FOR BONDS" or "AGAINST BONDS". SECTION 6: Ballots containing the question set forth in Soction 4 above shall be prepared for the use of absent electors entitled to cast such ballots in said election. SECTION 7: This Resolution becomes effective immediately upon its passage.
