CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R- % 9- 7,3
A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING OCTOBER 7, 1979 TO BE
TAMARAC ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL DAY IN
TAMARAC, AND AUTHORIZING A MAYOR PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS, dread childhood diseases are killing many
thousands of children each year, and
WHEREAS, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded
by Danny Thomas, is the only research center in America devoted
solely to basic and clinical research in these catastrophic
disease areas, and
WHEREAS, this institution is leading the way to new
treatment procedures that have greatly increased the rate of
survival, and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the great work
performed by this institution and urges all residents to
participate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of Tamarac hereby
declares October 7, 1979 to be "Tamarac - St. Jude Children's
Hospital Day" and authorizes a Mayoral Proclamation.

WHEREAS, dread childhood diseases are killing many thousands of children
each year, and
WHEREAS, only medical research provides hope of discovering the still unknown
causes of leukemia and other childhood cancers, muscle disorders, rare blood
diseases and other illnesses that stirke our young, and
WHEREAS, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded by Damiy Thomas, is the
only research center an America devoted solely to basic and clinical research
in these catastrophic disease areas, and
WHEREAS, this institution is leading the way to new treatment procedures that have
greatly increased the rate of survival, and
WIEREAS, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital depends upon public support to
continue this vital work; and in recognition that 1979 is the _international
Year of the Child;
NOW, TIEREFORE, 1, Walter W. Falck, by virtue of the authority vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Tamarac do hereby proclaim Sunday, October 7, as
TAMA.MC -- Sr. JUDE CHIT'-DRUP S RESEARCH HOSPITAL DAY in Tamarac, Florida,
and I urge all citizens, schools, churches, business establishments, and
scientific, social, civic and fraternal organizations to give this worth-
while project their support and cooperation.
