1 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
2 RESOLUTION NO. '�-
3 A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO FORT LAUDERDALE
EXECUTIVE AIRPORT.
A
5 WHEREAS, Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport borders on the City of
6 Tamarac, and
7 WHEREAS, many changes have occurred at Executive Airport over the
8 past few years which have created an intolerable situation for the people of
9 Tamarac, and
10 WHEREAS, at the timel�marac was being developed, Executive Airport
11 was for small aircraft and there was no indication that it would grow into the
12 mammoth that it has become, and
13 WHEREAS, it is no longer possible to sit back and allow the airport
14 to continue its unfettered growth, and
15 WHEREAS, homes housing:=thousands of people have been constructed in
16 close proximity to Executive Airport, and
17 WHEREAS, as said homes were being constructed, no indication was
18 given by Fort Lauderdale or Broward County that the airport would be allowed to
19 expand to its current size and beyond, and
20 WHEREAS, the noise generated by the airport necessitates curtailment
21 of conversations during takeoffs and landings, and
22 WHEREAS, the hours of operation are unconscionable, disrupting the
23 sleep of thousands of people, and
24 WHEREAS, there is constantly revving of engines which are being
25 tested during repairs. This revving can last for hours and it takes place
26 near residences. This is cruel and unusual punishment for people whose only
27 crime is a desire to retire to the peace, quiet and tranquility of South
28 Florida, and
29 WHEREAS, over the years there have been a number of accidents during
.30 takeoffs and landings causing fear and nervous anticipation on the part of those
31 living near the airport, and
32 WHEREAS, studies have shown a dramatic decrease in life expectancy
33 of those living near airports, and

WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has received no indication that any
problems at the airport will improve, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac -finds it necessary to take direct
action and to solicit help to resolve problems at the airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The City of Tamarac proclaims that it is angry as
hell about the noise and other problems generated by Fort Lauderdale Executive
Airport and it is not going to idly stand by and take it any more.
SECTION 2: The City of Tamarac solicits and implores the FAA,
CAB, Fort Lauderdale City Commission, Broward County Commission, all Congress-
men representing Brcyward, Dade & Palm Beach Counties, the citizens of
Tamarac and Fort Lauderdale to get off of their apathy and to immediately
work diligently to resolve the problems at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
SECTION 3: A copy of this Resolution shall be furnished to
the FAA, CAB, Fort,Lauderdale City Commission, Broward County Commission,
and to all Congressmen representing Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach Counties.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall be effective upon adoption.
