R- 79 - 7 A RESOLUTION URGING GOVERNOR GRAHAM TO CREATE A DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN'S AFFAIRS IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA, AND AUTHORIZING A MAYORAL PROCLAMATION. WHEREAS, the State of Florida at the present time does not have a Department of Veteran's Affairs to represent its almost one and a half million veterans; and WHEREAS, the veteran population in Broward County is approximately 130,000; and WHEREAS, the status of the veterans in our State would be greatly enhanced, their benefits increased and protected, if they had an effective voice in the State Government; NOW', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC; FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of Tamarac hereby urges Governor Graham to create a Department of Veteran's Affairs in the State of Florida and authorizes a Mayoral Proclamation. SECTION 2: That the City Clerk is directed to send copies of this Resolution and Proclamation to all Broward County municipalities. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 24th day of January, 1979.
