2 RESOLUTION NO. R- 7
3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A
MAYORAL PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH
4 OF MAY 1979 AS POPPY MONTH AND PROCLAIMING
MAY 25 AND MAY 26 AS POPPY DAYS IN THE CITY
S OF TAMARAC; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
6 WHEREAS, the American Legion has designated the month of May,
7 1979, as Poppy Month and has designated the 25th and 26th days of
8 May, 1979, as Poppy Days, and
9 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida,
10 recognizes that the freedom enjoyed by the citizenry of the City
11 of Tamarac and the United States of America has been guaranteed by
12 the ultimate sacrifice of so many American patriots, and
13 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, on
14 behalf of the residents of the City of Tamarac, Florida, is desirous
15 of commemorating those great American patriots who have protected
36 America from her enemies, and
1117 WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes the great fruitful
8 efforts of the organization known as the American Legion in honoring
19 the Country's war dead and in rendering aid to the widows and
20 children of those great patriots who have committed their lives to
21 the safety and protection of America.
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
23 OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
24 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida,
25 on behalf of the citizenry of the City of Tamarac, does hereby recog-
26 nize and reaffirm its gratitude to all of the war veterans who have
27 sacrificed themselves in an effort to protect the citizens of the
28 United States of America, without which the great American tradition
t329 would be imperiled.
0 SECTION 2: It is within the best interest of the citizenry of
31 the City of Tamarac to commemorate those great American patriots
32 who have sacrificed to protect the freedom enjoyed by all Americans
33 and, therefore, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida does

hereby direct that the Mayor issue a proclamation proclaiming the
month of May, 1979 as Poppy Month and the days of May 25 and May 26,
1979, as Poppy Days in the City of Tamarac.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its passage.

WHEREAS, the freedoms we enjoy have been attained and
perpetuated by the sac&i6ices o6 gattant Ame,%icans
who died white serving our Nation, and
WHEREAS, they tc heroic deeds have not ont y contributed
to the preservation o6 outs precious het stage, but
atzo have advanced the cause o6 individuat dignity

WHEREAS, it is both bitting and proper that a speciat
month be set aside to pay ttibute to their deeds as
weft as honor the mittions o6 Ameticans who also wane
the uni6orm ob our country in time ob war and have
since passed on into eternity.
NOW, THEREFORE, As Mayor ob the City o6 Tamarac, I do
proctaim the month o6 May, 1979 to be
POPPY MONTH
and do hereby catt upon att citizens to observe the
month in honor o4 our heroic dead and in rea44itmation
04 the 4ounding p&inciptes 04 our great Nation. I
6urther catt upon each resident and business 6i,%m in
TAMARAC to observe this month of commemoration with the
display 06 the Jtag 06 the United States as our testimony
that we have not 60rgotten the cost o6 a 6ree and
