RESOLUTION NO. R-2000- % 3
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING HELEN SOBEL AS
THE CITY'S "PIONEER" FOR THE 287H ANNUAL BROWARD
COUNTY PIONEER DAYS SPONSORED BY THE BROWARD
COUNTY HISTORICAL COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, is a municipality located within Broward
County, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Broward County Historical Commission (Historical Commission) is
sponsoring the 28t" Annual Broward County Pioneer Days (Pioneer Days) to be held on
October 14 and 15 at Pioneer Park in Deerfield Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Historical Commission has requested that the City appoint one
member of the community ("Pioneer") from the earlier years of the City's existence to be
honored at the Pioneer Days, as attached in Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends the appointment of a City of Tamarac
Pioneer; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint Helen
Sobel as the City's "Pioneer" for the 28t" Annual Broward County Pioneer Days sponsored
by the Broward County Historical Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

Section 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: That Helen Sobel is appointed as the City's "Pioneer" for the 281h Annual
Broward County Pioneer Days sponsored by the Broward County Historical Commission.
Section 3: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4: That if any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this
Resolution.
Section 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 24t" day of May, 2000.

Dear Mayor Schreiber:
The Broward County Historical Commission is pleased to announce our Twenty-
eighth Annual Broward County Pioneer Days. We look forward to you joining us
for this celebration.
This year Pioneer Days will take place October 14 and 15 at Pioneer Park, 425
Northeast 3 Street, Deerfield Beach. Our theme, Yanp. Marches On: Memories and
Milestones, will celebrate the accomplishments of the past as we journey into
the twenty-first century.
It is time to choose the "Pioneers" to be honored from your community at
Pioneer Days 2000. We ask that older communities choose Pioneers who arrived
before 1940, and that newer communities w- those established after 1940 -
select those who were present in the early years of their existence.
Please have the completed PIONEER BIOGRAPHICAL DATA forms for Pioneer Days
2000 returned to the Broward County Historical Commission office no later than
Tuesday, May 30, 2000. This is the deadline for ordering ribbons and
certificates, and for printing the biographies in the Pioneer Days program.
The City of Tamarac may designate one (1) pioneer who will be honored. The
required number of PIONEER PI0CF1PNICAL LSAT'? forms for Plome?r riayp 2000 are
enclosed. Please encourage your nominee to share as many memories as possible.
We hope you will give this very important matter high priority on your busy
schedule.
