R2000-169 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING EIGHT (8) OR MORE MEMBERS TO THE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT OF A CHAIRPERSON TO THE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing eight (8) or more members to the Veterans Affairs Committee to serve one-year terms; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-223 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit A) members of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve one (1) year terms; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit B) the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall nominate a Chairperson, and said nominee shall be appointed by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director and City Manager recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint eight (8) or more members to the Veterans Affairs Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLO, '!DA: 1 tJ Temp. Reso. #9012 Page 2 May 10, 2000 Rev. #1 June 15, 2000 SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That pursuant to Section 2-222 of the Tamarac Code, the following people are hereby appointed as members of the Veterans Affairs Committee to serve one (1) year terms expiring June 26, 2001, or until such time as reappointments are made: Norman Blau Michael J. Coakley Nora Gould Robert Horwith Murray Nathanson Stanley Rosenzweig Miya D. Stewart Dorothy K. Tanne Harold Weiskopf Joseph S. Brown Harry Cohen Herbert Hayes Harvey Jefferbaum Louis Rodowsky Hyman Sklar Martin Sucoff Joseph Van Wagner SECTION 3: In accordance with Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code, the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall nominate a Chairperson, and the nominee shall be appointed by the City Commission, to serve a one-year term. SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent e uch conflict. Temp. Reso. #9012 Page 3 May 10, 2000 Rev. #1 June 15, 2000 SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 26th day of June, 2000.
