CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-2000- a4Z
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO PERMIT THE CITY
AND/OR DESIGNEE TO SELL AND SERVE ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES AT THE TAMARAC COMMUNITY CENTER
GRAND OPENING "GALA" EVENT AT THE TAMARAC
COMMUNITY CENTER, 8601 WEST COMMERCIAL
BOULEVARD, ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2000 FROM 5:00 P.M.
THROUGH 10:00 P.M.; PROVIDING FOR PROPER
INSURANCE AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT; AND
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, will host a "Gala" reception as part of
the Grand Opening Ceremonies for the Tamarac Community Center; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, has contracted with a caterer for the
"Gala" Event and wishes to have the City and/or designee serve and sell alcoholic
beverages to the attendees of this reception; and
WHEREAS, in Section 15-88 (a) of the City of Tamarac Code, it states that a
permit, for the consumption or sale of alcoholic beverages at group functions must be
obtained from the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City's Risk Management department will obtain the appropriate
levels of liability insurance coverage for this event; and

WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director and the City Manager
recommend a permit be granted to the City and/or designee to sell and serve alcoholic
beverages at the "Gala" Grand Opening event provided all other appropriate permits are
applied for and approved; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac, to permit the
City and/or designee to sell and serve alcoholic beverages at the "Gala" event for the
grand opening of the Tamarac Community Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
resolution.
SECTION 2: That the request to permit the City and/or designee to sell and
serve alcoholic beverages at the "Gala" event from 5:00 p.m. -- 10:00 p.m. on Sunday
September 17, 2000, for the Grand Opening of the Tamarac Community Center,
provided all other appropriate permits are applied for and approved is HEREBY
APPROVED.
SECTION 3: That proper insurance coverage and an executed hold harmless
Agreement be provided to the City for the event.
SECTION 4: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part of application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
