R-2000- a.6 Y A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, THROUGH BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, A POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA, FOR A GRANT OF EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING RELATED TO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to improve Tamarac Fire Rescue to prepare for all types of emergencies; and WHEREAS, Broward County Emergency Management has submitted a request to the Department of Justice, State and Local Preparedness Equipment Support Program, on behalf of all Fire Rescue agencies; and WHEREAS, Broward County Emergency Management received the grant, purchased the required equipment and provided training for each department; and WHEREAS, Tamarac has participated in the train the trainer program and is entitled to receive the equipment as attached in "Exhibit A°; and Temp Reso # 9134 Page 2 September 5, 2000 Revision #1 — 9/7/00 Revision #2 — 9/18/00 WHEREAS, the Fire Chief and City Manager recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the residents and citizens of the City of Tamarac to accept the award grant of equipment and training related to Weapons of Mass Destruction. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT: SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are HEREBY ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption hereof. SECTION 2: The appropriate City Officials are here by authorized to accept and receive the grant equipment through the execution of the Equipment Acceptance Agreement included in Exhibit "A". SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are HEREBY repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. 11 L_J Temp Reso # 9134 Page 3 September 5, 2000 Revision #1 — 9/7/00 Revision #2 — 9/18/00 SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. As a result of the bidding process, we were able to purchase more equipment than was original) re ue within the grant. Therefore, we are able to distribute some additional personnel rotecttive equipment to fire departments throughout Broward COUlty, p v Attached is an agreement for accepting and distributing this equipment. To receive g equipment please contact Broward County Fire Rescue Logistics at 831-8292 to arrange for pick up. You must present an original signed copy of the agreement in order to the equipment up. pick Training for the use of equipment will be offered through the Broward County Fire Chief Association Hazardous Materials subcommittee at a later date. Respirator Masks - 12 8 EMS Transport 4 Fire Sivershild Gloves-12 12 EMS Transport PVC Boots - 12 8 EMS Transport 4 Fire Level C suits - 12 8 EMS Transport 4 Fire Butyl Gloves - 7 4 EMS Transport City of Tamarac is responsible for the securing and paying any and all costs associated with maintenance, insurance, licensing and permitting required or deemed necessary for said equipment. City of Tamarac accepting equipment item(s) procured through this grant must agree to be responsible for any risk of loss of the equipment item(s) for the life expectancy of the equipment. City of Tamarac is responsible to ensure that all personnel who will be using any of the equipment be properly trained in its use. The City of Tamarac agrees to comply with the audit requirements of OMB Circular A-133.
