CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2000-,3/
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE
CITY OFFICIALS TO CHARGE A TWENTY FIVE CENT ($0.25)
FEE FOR EACH RIDE ON THE CITY OF TAMARAC PUBLIC
TRANSPORTATION ROUTE BASED BUS SERVICE;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the addition of three buses to enhance the City's public transportation
service has been previously approved by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the need to increase accessible transportation for Tamarac residents
has been identified by the City as a priority; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission approved an Interlocal Agreement between
Broward County and the City of Tamarac for Public Transportation Services on October
20, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners approved the
Interlocal Agreement between Broward County and the City of Tamarac for Public
Transportation Services on November 16, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Office of Social Services will be launching the new
route based bus service in February, 2000; and
WHEREAS, the funds utilized for operation of the new bus service are based on a
combination of General Fund dollars and the 160,000 provided to the City from Broward
County; and

WHEREAS, the annual cost of operating the new bus service exceeds the amount
granted to the City by the County; and
WHEREAS, the Social Services Coordinator and the Assistant City Manager
recommend charging a twenty five cent ($0.25) fee for each ride on the City of Tamarac
public transportation route based bus service to supplement the City's funds towards
transportation; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to authorize the
charge of twenty-five cents ($0.25) for each ride on the City of Tamarac public
transportation route based bus service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to charge a
twenty-five cent ($0.25) fee for each ride on the City of Tamarac public transportation route
based bus service.
SECTION 3: All appropriate budgetary transfers of funds necessary to implement
this program are hereby authorized.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective May 1, 2000.
