CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2000 333
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO SEEK GRANT
FUNDING FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
COMMUNITY AFFAIRS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
PREPAREDNESS AND ASSISTANCE COMPETITIVE
GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $105,000 FOR
A GENERATOR FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTER;
PROVIDING FOR A CITY MATCH OF $3,890,000 IN -
KIND FOR A TOTAL PROJECT COST OF $3,995,000;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to improve
emergency management capabilities within the City in the fundamental areas of
response and recovery; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Emergency Preparedness Plan (1997)
provides guidance in preparation, mitigation and recovery from disasters; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Emergency Preparedness Plan is intended to
be used in conjunction with the Broward County Emergency Operations Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Broward County Emergency Operations Plan provides for the
establishment of Recovery Information Centers for disaster assistance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac desires to utilize the Tamarac Community
Center as a post disaster refuge for disaster victims and a Recovery Information
Center;

WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs has
grant funds available under the Emergency Management Competitive Grant Program
for local governments to implement projects that will further state and local
emergency management objectives; and
WHEREAS, the Broward County Emergency Management Division has
expressed its support for the proposed project; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager, the Director of Parks and Recreation, and the
Fire Chief recommend the submission of the grant application a copy of which is
hereto attached as Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the
best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to apply for a State
of Florida Department of Community Affairs Emergency Management Grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are HEREBY ratified
and confirmed as being true and correct and are HEREBY made a specific part of
this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The appropriate City officials are HEREBY authorized to seek
grant funding from the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs Emergency
Management Competitive Grant Program in the amount of $105,000.
SECTION 3: A City match in the amount of $3,890,000 in kind is hereby
authorized for a total project cost of $3,995,000.

SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
HEREBY repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part
or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications
of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
