RESOLUTION NO. R-2000- .337
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE
OF TWENTY SIX (26) PORTABLE RADIOS AND ASSORTED
ACCESSORIES INCLUDING BATTTERIES, BELT LOOPS,
REMOTE SPEAKER MICROPHONES, AND CHARGERS,
FROM MOTOROLA BASED ON THE BROWARD COUNTY
CONTRACT #D03961134 AT A TOTAL COST NOT TO
EXCEED SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED
TWENTY ONE ($74,121.00) DOLLARS; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes that good communications are
needed to provide quick, efficient and safe emergency services; and
WHEREAS, many of the Fire Rescue Department radios are more than ten
years old and need to be upgraded; and
WHEREAS, portable radios are also needed for the new rescue vehicle; and
WHEREAS, Motorola has given the City of Tamarac a quotation attached hereto
as (Exhibit #1) based on Broward County Contract # D03961134 attached hereto as
(Exhibit #2); and
WHEREAS, funds for these purchases have been budgeted in the Fire/Rescue
fund; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the twenty six (26) portable radios and accessories will

not exceed seventy four thousand one hundred twenty one ($74,121.00) dollars; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the Purchasing and
Contracts Manager that this purchase be awarded to Motorola; and
WHEREAS, City Code §6-155 allows the Purchasing Officer the authority to
utilize contract prices from other governmental agencies; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to authorize the
purchase of twenty six (26) portable radios and accessories.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: The appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to purchase
twenty six (26) portable radios and accessories from Motorola utilizing the Broward
County Contract #D03961134, in an amount not to exceed seventy four thousand one
hundred twenty one ($74,121.00) dollars, funding for which will be through the FY01
Budget.
SECTION 3: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 4: That if any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
