CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R2000- 43
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
A FOUR WEEK CONSECUTIVE PERIOD (JULY 15,
2000 — AUGUST 15, 2000) DURING WHICH THE
COMMISSION WILL NOT SCHEDULE ANY
REGULAR MEETINGS IN 2000 PURSUANT TO
SECTION 4.06 OF THE CITY CHARTER;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Tamarac, Florida, provides that the
City Commission shall meet regularly at least twice a month, except during a four
consecutive week period to be determined by the City Commission no later than
April 15t" of each year; and
WHEREAS, the City Charter requires the City Manager to submit to the
City Commission by July 30t" of each year the proposed budget for the following
year, set a tentative millage, and submit same to the property appraiser by the
end of July according to the "Truth in Millage" TRIM regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission prefers to start budget workshops during
July; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that the vacation schedule of
the City Commission be July 15, 2000 — August 15, 2000; and

WHEREAS, in order to comply with the City Charter, the City Commission
of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interests of the
residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the City Manager's recommendation
to designate July 15, 2000 — August 15, 2000 as the four consecutive week
period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified
and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of
this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City Commission hereby approves the City
Manager's recommendation.
SECTION 3: That pursuant to the Tamarac City Charter, Section 4.06, the
City Commission hereby determines that the Commission will not schedule any
regular meetings during the four week consecutive period of July 15, 2000 —
August 15, 2000.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.

SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.

Sec...06. Procedures.
(a) Meetings. The commission shall meet regularly at least twice a month,
except during a four -consecutive -week period to be determined by the city
commission no later than April 15 of each year at such times and places as
the commission may decide. Special meetings may be held on the call of the
mayor or of a majority of the members upon no less than twelve (12) hours'
notice to each member. In the event of an emergency, the mayor may call for
an immediate meeting of the commission.

(b) Rules and Journal. The commission shall determine its own rules and
order of business, and shall keep minutes of its proceedings.
(c) Voting and Quorum. Voting on ordinances and resolutions shall be by
roll call, and each vote shall be recorded in the journal. A majority of the
commission will constitute a quorum. An affirmative vote of three (3) members
shall be necessary to enact any ordinance or adopt any resolution.
