RESOLUTION NO. R-2000 - 7�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE
OF SECURITY GUARD SERVICES FROM THE
WACKENHUT CORPORATION; GRANTING THE
PURCHASING AND CONTRACTS MANAGER THE
AUTHORITY TO WAIVE PURCHASING PROCEDURES
PURSUANT TO CITY OF TAMARAC CODE §6-155, AND
PURCHASE FROM CONTRACTS WITH OTHER
GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES; AUTHORIZING AN ANNUAL
EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $40,000; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has requested security
guard services at City Hall to enhance the safety of employees and visitors; and
WHEREAS, City of Tamarac Code §6-155 grants the Purchasing and Contracts
Manager the authority to waive purchasing procedures and purchase from contracts with
other governmental agencies; and
WHEREAS, on July 14, 1998, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners
executed an Agreement with the Wackenhut Corporation for the provision of security guard
services at Broward County Government facilities beginning August 4, 1998 for an initial
period of two (2) years, with a renewal option for three (3) one-year periods, a copy of said
Agreement is attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the Wackenhut Corporation has agreed to extend and honor all terms
and conditions contained in the Broward County Agreement to the City of Tamarac

including naming the City as a certificate holder on $5 million general liability insurance
policy and issuing a hold harmless agreement indemnifying the City against liabilities
caused by the actions of Wackenhut employees, a copy of said document is attached
hereto as Exhibit "B"; and
WHEREAS, funding exists in the General Fund account entitled "Other Contractual
Services" for said purpose; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works, the Assistant Director of Public Works,
and the Purchasing and Contracts Manager recommend that the City purchase security
guard services from the Wackenhut Corporation utilizing an existing Broward County
Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to purchase security
guard services from the Wackenhut Corporation utilizing an existing Broward County
Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are HEREBY ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are HEREBY made a specific part of this
Resolution upon adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: The appropriate City Officials are HEREBY authorized to
purchase security guard services from the Wackenhut Corporation to enhance the safety of
employees and visitors at City Hall.

The Wackenhut Corporation hereby agrees to acknowledge The City of
Tamarac's intention to purchase Security Officer Services Class III utilizing Broward
County Security Contract RLI No: 090297RB.
The contracted cost of Security Officer is $16.40 per hour thru 08/04/00, with an
increase to $17.06 per hour effective 8/05/00 thru 08/04/01,
All terms and conditions of the existing Broward County Security Services
Contract No: 090297RB are hereby incorporated into and become a part of this
Agreement.
