RESOLUTION NO. R-97- 151(o
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE USE OF THE STATE OF
FLORIDA, DIVISION OF COMMUNICATION AS
THE CITY'S INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER
AT A COST OF $ 1,321 PER MONTH;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFEQTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, more and more organizations are putting important public information
on Internet "Home Pages" and therefore it has become mission -critical for the City to have
access to the Internet for information access and dissemination; and
WHEREAS, electronic mail has become a viable vehicle to exchange information
between organizations on the Internet; and
WHEREAS, the Internet is being used effectively by many organizations as an
economic development tool; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Division of Communication won the State Contract
#DMS 95/96-037, the use of which would give the City unlimited Internet access at a cost
of $ 1,321 per month; and
WHEREAS, the State Contract provides month -to -month services that can be
canceled at any time; and
WHEREAS, the funding for this service is available in the MIS telecommunications
budget; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the
purchase of Internet access from the State of Florida, Division of Communication.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

confirmed as being true and correct and is hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTIQN- 2: The purchase of Internet access from the State of Florida,
Division of Communication at a cost of $ 1,321 per month IS HEREBY APPROVED to be
purchased from State of Florida, Division of Communication utilizing State of Florida
Contract #DMS 95/96-037
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
5ECIION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.

above contract. The Internet contract provides for the following:
1. CCFDDL RTS and Frame Relav Users
Firewalled Internet access is:available to CCFDDI (MAN), RTS and Frame Relay
users. The firewall definition:deployed is designed to protect the operational
working files of state and local government users. These prices are an add -on to
the pricing for RTS and Frame Relay connections.
