CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-97- o2 01
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIAL TO SEEK GRANT FUNDING
FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $37,939 FOR
A TOTAL PROJECT COST TO BE DETERMINED WITH THE
APPROVAL OF THE FY98 BUDGET IN ORDER TO
PROVIDE SECURITY SYSTEMS THAT WILL AUGMENT
CRIME PREVENTION AND LAW ENFORCEMENT
PROGRAMS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY CASH MATCH OF
$3,794 TO BE ALLOCATED FROM THE GRANTS -
MATCHING ACCOUNT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to enhance the
existing crime prevention and law enforcement programs; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance,
provides grants for projects that will reduce crimes and improve public safety; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to improve
security to its facilities by providing security systems that will incorporate
recommendations made by the Broward Sheriff's Office and the Public Works
Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida is willing to
match the grant request of $37,939 with local funds in the amount of $3,794; and

WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Public Works recommend
approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to enhance
crime prevention and improve public safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
ti 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution.
Section 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized to seek grant funding from the U.S.
Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance in the amount of $37,939 with a
cash match of $3,794 for a total project cost to be determined by the approval of the
FY 98 Budget to enhance crime prevention and improve public safety.
Section 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by
any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this
Resolution.
