RESOLUTION NO. R-97- 4205
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO SEEK GRANT
FUNDING FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IN THE AMOUNT OF
$90,975 FOR A TOTAL PROJECT COST OF $121,300 IN
ORDER TO PROVIDE THE RESIDENTS AND VISITORS
ENHANCED PARKS AND RECREATION PROGRAMS AT
CAPORELLA PARK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY CASH
MATCH OF $30,325 TO BE ALLOCATED FROM THE
GRANTS - MATCHING ACCOUNT; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to provide its
residents and visitors a higher level of service by enhancing and improving its outdoor
recreation facilities and environment; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, through the
Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP), provides grants to local
governments to acquire or develop land for public outdoor recreation; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has an on -going
program of public participation through the activities of the Tamarac Parks and
Recreation Board; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Board recommends the
renovations that will be accomplished if the grant were awarded to the City of Tamarac;
and
WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the grant program that a public meeting
regarding the proposed development of Caporella Park be held; and
WHEREAS, a public meeting regarding the proposed development of Caporella
Park was held on August 25, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida is willing to
match the grant request of $90,975 with local funds in the amount of $30,325; and
WHEREAS, the enhancements of Caporella Park include a fishing pier, a play
structure with safety surface and security lighting which are part of the Proposed FY 98
Five Year Capital Improvement Program; and

WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the grant program that this Resolution be
adopted and become an official part of the application; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation recommend
approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to enhance
recreation and park facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution.
Section 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized to seek grant funding in the amount
of $90,975 from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and a City match
of $30,325 for a total project cost of $121,300.
Section 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
,5r,pAion 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by
any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this
Resolution.
Section 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
