CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO, R-97-�-5
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A FOUR
PERCENT (4%) SALARY INCREASE FOR ALL EXECUTIVE,
MANAGERIAUPROFESSIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE
NON -BARGAINING EMPLOYEES EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 1997,
AND AUTHORIZING A THREE PERCENT (3%) ADJUSTMENT
TO THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM OF THE PAY RANGES
IN THE PAY PLANS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on November 27, 1996 the City Commission ratified a Collective
Bargaining Agreement between the Federation of Public Employees and the City granting a
four percent (4%) salary increase to bargaining unit employees of record effective October
1, 1997, subject to the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that all Executive, Managerial/Professional
and Administrative non -bargaining employees of record on October 1, 1997 receive a four
percent (4%) increase effective October 1, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement between the City of Tamarac and the Federation of Public
Employees provides for an adjustment to the minimum and maximum of the pay ranges in the
Pay Plan for bargaining unit employees ranging from two percent (2%) to four percent (4%)
effective October 1, 1997; and

WHEREAS, after reviewing competitive salary survey data from cities in the
surrounding area, the Personnel Director and City Manager recommend that the minimum
and the maximum of the pay ranges in the Pay Plan for bargaining employees and in the Pay
Plan for non -bargaining employees increase by three percent (3%) effective October 1, 1997;
and that Executive, Managerial/Professional, and Administrative employees above the new
maximum of the pay range, or who would exceed the new maximum of the pay range with a
four percent (4%) increase, will receive only a lump sum by such amount of the 4% as is
above the pay range maximum; and
WHEREAS, funds for this increase are included in the proposed budget for Fiscal Year
1998; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the
best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to authorize a four percent
(4%) salary increase for all Executive, Managerial/Professional and Administrative non -
bargaining employees effective October 1, 1997, and authorizing a three percent (3%)
adjustment to the minimum and maximum of the pay ranges in the pay plans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.

SECTION 7: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
