CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-97- o2 10
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO PURCHASE
LABORATORY TESTING SERVICES FOR FY98 UNTIL JUNE
30, 1998 UTILIZING THE BROWARD COUNTY CO-OP BID
NUMBER B-96-73 AWARDED TO HARBOR BRANCH
OCEANOGRAPHIC LABORATORY AT A MAXIMUM TOTAL
COST OF $12,000 WITH FUNDING FROM THE
APPROPRIATE UTILITIES OPERATING ACCOUNT, FOR
FY98; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is required by the Florida Administrative Code
62-550 and the Broward County Department of Natural Resources Protection to test
the untreated well water and potable drinking water; and
WHEREAS, it is more cost effective for some testing to be performed by a
certified, outside laboratory rather than the Water Treatment Plant Laboratory; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission approved funding for laboratory testing
services in the FY98 budget under the appropriate Utilities Operational Account; and
WHEREAS, the Broward County Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group
awarded Bid 8-96-73 (attached hereto as Exhibit A) for the purchase of laboratory
testing services to Harbor Branch laboratory for a term ending June 30, 1998; and

WHEREAS, City Code Section 6-154 allows the Purchasing and Contracts
Manager the authority to join with other units of government in cooperative
purchasing when the best interest of the City would be served; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Utilities recommends the purchase of laboratory
testing services from Harbor Branch Oceanographic Laboratory; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the
purchase of laboratory testing services from harbor Branch Oceanographic Laboratory.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: That purchase of laboratory testing services at a maximum
total cost of $12,000 by the Purchasing Contracts/Manager as authorized under
Section 6-154 of the City of Tamarac Code to be purchased from Harbor Branch
Oceanographic Laboratory utilizing the Broward County Co-op Bid Number B-96-73,
which is effective until June 30, 1998, is hereby approved.
SECTION 3: The City Commission approved funding for laboratory testing
under the appropriate Utilities Operational Account.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part of application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoptions.
