CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-97-IZ5�02,.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, INCREASING AND
RESTRUCTURING BUILDING DEPARTMENT PERMIT
FEES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the David M. Griffith & Associates user fee study recommends an
increase in permit fees to offset the Building Department subsidy; and
WHEREAS, Section 5-1 (a) of the Tamarac City Code authorizes the City
Commission to review, alter, add to, modify, deduct from or in any other way change any
fees or any categories of building permit fees by Resolution (existing fee schedule attached
as Exhibit A); and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Building Department have recommended that
an increase and comprehensive structure change of such fees should be made; and
WHEREAS, the Building Department has submitted an attachment indicating the
increase and structure changes to the Building Department Schedule of Permit Fees
(attached as Exhibit B); and
WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens
and residents of the City of Tamarac to increase and restructure these fees.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing WHEREAS clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of the Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the Schedule of Permit Fees, attached hereto as Exhibit B and
made a part hereof, is HEREBY APPROVED.
SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.

TAMARAC BUILDING PERMIT SCHEDULE OF FEES
REVISED AUGUST 11, 1989
SECTION A: As set forth in Section 301 of the South Florida Building
Code, it is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to fail to
,kcquire a proper permit prior to the commencement of any construction,
alteration or repair on or within private property, and such act is
punishable as provided in Section 1-6 of the Tamarac city code.
SECTION B: In the event of an emergency requiring immediate repairs a
person or firm may proceed with such repairs; provided however, an
application for the permit and the payment of appropriate fees are
made during the first succeeding business day of the City Building
Department.
SECTION C: Certification maintenance - All permits for new
construction 1/100th of +11. (2%) of estimated cost ( pev sioe ^^)
($0.02 per S100.00).
All fees collected for certification maintenance shall be reserved for
education and schooling to maintain certification of personnel as
required by the South Florida Building Code.
SECTION D: PERMIT FEE BASED ON COST OF JOB:
1. No permit shall be required for general maintenance or repairs
which do not change the Occupancy and the value of which does
not exceed eight hundred ($800.00) dollars in labor and material
as determined by the Building official.
Construction, alterations, additions, and repairs/maintenance of
items not set forth above, shall pay a fee as set forth below:

SCHEDULE OF PERMIT FEES
SECTION I: As set forth in Section 301 of the South Florida Building Code, it is unlawful for any
person, firm or corporation to fail to acquire a proper permit prior to the commencement of any
construction, alteration or repair on or within private property, and such act is punishable as
provided in Section 1-13 of the Tamarac City Code.
SECTION If. In the event of an emergency requiring immediate repairs a person or firm may proceed
with such repairs; provided however, an application for the permit and the payment of appropriate
fees are made during the first succeeding business day of the City Building Department.
SECTION III: All permits for new construction, including permits for building, alterations,
miscellaneous, signs, swimming pools, plumbing, electric and mechanical, shall include a fee for
training and education of Building Department personnel of $0.20 per thousand dollars of estimated
cost.
S TION IV:
Jormit shall be required for general maintenance or repairs which do not change the Occupancy
and the value of which does not exceed eight hundred ($800.00) dollars in labor and material as
determined by the Building Official.
