CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-97- 99,7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO RENEW BASIC
LIFE AND ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT
COVERAGE WITH MET LIFE AT THE PRESENT RATE
THE CITY PAYS FOR INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR
THE CITY OF TAMARAC EMPLOYEES; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment
coverage renews on December 1, 1997 with Metropolitan Life Insurance
Company; and
WHEREAS, the rates for the life insurance coverage will remain the same
at $.36 per month per $1,000 this renewal period; and
WHEREAS, the rates for accidental death & dismemberment coverage will
remain the same at $.05 per month per $1,000 this renewal period; and
WHEREAS, there will be no change in the various rates that retirees pay
for life insurance or accidental death & dismemberment coverage, which is based
on age; and
WHEREAS, the Risk Manager recommends approval of the life insurance
and the accidental death & dismemberment coverage with no increase in premium

rates effective December 1, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it
to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to
provide low cost life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment benefits
for City employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA-
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby
ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and is hereby made a specific part
of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to
approve the renewal of Metropolitan Life Insurance as the City's carrier for life insurance
and accidental death & dismemberment coverage for the City of Tamarac employees with
no increase in premium rates effective December 1, 1997.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid,
in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or
applications of this Resolution.
