CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-97- +Z9 S
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO APPROVE THE
PURCHASE OF AV-118 CHEMICAL GROUT FROM AVANTI
INTERNATIONAL, THE SINGLE SOURCE, AT A TOTAL
COST NOT TO EXCEED $24,000; APPROVING FUNDING
FROM THE APPROPRIATE UTILITIES OPERATING
ACCOUNTS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Wastewater division is involved in a comprehensive Infiltration and
Inflow Program to reduce wastewater treatment cost; and
WHEREAS, one method of reducing infiltration is the sealing of leaking sanitary
sewer mains with chemical grout by Wastewater personnel; and
WHEREAS, Avanti AV-118 grout has lower toxicity levels and requires less
maintenance then other chemical grouts; and
and
WHEREAS, Avanti International is the single source supplier of AVA 18 Grout;
WHEREAS, City Code 6-151 allows the purchasing of non-competitive supplies
available from only one source when the best interest of the City is served; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of purchasing AV-118 is not to exceed $24,000 and
funds exist in the Utilities Operating Budget; and

WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Utilities and the
Purchasing and Contracts Manager that this purchase be awarded to Avanti
International; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interest of the City of Tamarac to approve the purchase of AV-118 Chemical
Grout from Avanti International for an amount not to exceed $24,000 and provide
funding from the appropriate Utilities operating fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
resolution.
SECTION 2: That the appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to
purchase AV-118 at a cost not to exceed $24,000 from Avanti International.
SECTION 3: Funding is approved from the appropriate Utilities Operating
Account.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or

invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or
applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
