R-97 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA APPROVING THE BROWARD GOVERNMENTAL PURCHASING COOPERATIVE GROUP BID #652-7103, CONCRETE WATER METER BOXES AND PARTS, AWARDED TO HUGHES SUPPLY, INCORPORATED AT A COST NOT TO EXCEED $40,800, APPROVING FUNDING FROM THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY OPERATING CAPITAL ACCOUNTS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission appropriated funding for three utilities programs designed to address the need for new meters for new development and relocation of existing meters; and WHEREAS, the meter relocation and galvanized programs remove meters located on the outside wall of the customer's home to the utility easement in front of the home and provide water turn off capabilities; and WHEREAS, the relocation of water meters from the outside wall of customer's home will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of addressing water conservation; and WHEREAS, the purchase of the meter boxes and appurtenances provide the homeowner the opportunity to contact a plumber to repair their service line in accordance with City Code Section 22-32; and WHEREAS, the relocation of the water meters to the easement and new meter installations require meter boxes for protection; and Temp. Reso. #7605 - November 4, 1996 2 WHEREAS, the Broward Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group's original award of Bid #652-7103 to Hughes Supply Incorporated for the purchase of concrete water meter boxes has been extended for a period of one year ending June 7, 1997; and WHEREAS, City Code Section 6-155 allows the Purchasing -Contracts Manager the authority to join with other units of government in cooperative purchasing when the best interest of the City would be served; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Utilities and the Purchasing - Contracts Manager that Broward County Cooperative Bid #652-7103, be approved to purchase concrete meter boxes and parts; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to purchase concrete water meter boxes from Hughes Supply Incorporated utilizing Broward Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group Bid #652-7103 in an amount not to exceed $40,800. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution. SECTI.QN 2_: That the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to purchase concrete water meter boxes at a cost not to exceed $40,800 from Hughes Supply, Inc. utilizing the Broward Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group Bid #652- 7103 pursuant to Section 6-155 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac. SECTION 3: That funding is approved from the appropriate Utility Operating accounts. SECTION 4- All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Temp. Reso. #7605 -November 4, 1996 3 SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
