R-97- Sc;?— A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE MARCH 11, 1997 GENERAL ELECTION FOR MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION DISTRICTS 2, 3 AND 4; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFEQTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a General Election was held on March 11, 1997, wherein the electorate of the City of Tamarac elected one candidate for the Office of Mayor, one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 2, one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 3, and one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 4; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Canvassing Board has canvassed the results of the machine voting and the absentee ballots, and has certified such results to the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has reviewed the certification from the County Canvassing Board and has presented her findings to the City Commission for a formal Certification and Declaration of the results. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: Page 2 Temp. Reso. #7793 Rev. 3/13/97 SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS' clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: The following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Mayor at the General Election held March 11, 1997: Bruce Hoffman 2.4a9 Joseph Schreiber 4.981 Joseph Schreiber, having received the highest number of votes cast is, therefore, declared to have been elected as Mayor of the City of Tamarac for a term of three (3) years. SECTION 3: The following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative from District 2 at the General Election held March 11, 1997: Larry Mishkin 1.122 Henry C. "Hank" Schumann 658 Larry Mishkin, having received the highest number of votes cast is, therefore, declared to have been elected as Commission Representative from District 2 of the City of Tamarac for a term of three (3) years. 1 Page 3 Temp. Reso. #7793 Rev. 3/13/97 SECTION 4: The following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative from District 3 at the General Election held March 11, 1997: Milton Meyer 638 Donald E. Popilek 838 Marc L. Sultanof 1.814 Marc L. Sultanof, having received the highest number of votes cast is, therefore, declared to have been elected as Commission Representative from District 3 of the City of Tamarac to fulfill a term of two (2) years. SECTION 5 The following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative from District 4 at the General Election held March 11, 1997: John Baker 348 Karen L. Roberts 946 K@rPn L. RQUerts, having received the highest number of votes cast is, therefore, declared to have been elected as Commission Representative from District 4 of the City of Tamarac for a term of three (3) years. SECTION 6: That Joseph Schreiber, Larry Mishkin, Marc L. Sultanof and Karen L. Roberts shall take office in accordance with the provisions of Section 2-27 of the City Code. SECTION 7: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. 1 1 Page 4 Temp. Reso. #7793 Rev. 3/13/97 Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
