RESOLUTION NO. R-97-64
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
APPLY TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES
BUREAU OF EMS FOR A GRANT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $44,345 (WITH A CITY MATCH
OF $11,086.25) FOR THE PURCHASE OF PEN
BASED COMPUTER ELECTRONIC DATA
COLLECTION SYSTEM TO GENERATE
PATIENT REPORTS AND IMPROVE QUALITY
ASSURANCE OF THESE REPORTS;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to provide Pen
Based Computers to the Fire Department personnel that will generate patient reports; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to reduce downtime
by 15%; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to increase the
quality assurance report review from 25% to 75%; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to reduce errors in
patient report documentation by 30%; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to reduce billing
turn around time by 50%; and

WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the grant program that this Resolution be adopted;
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac is willing to match the
granted amount of $44,345 with local funds in the amount of $11,086.25; and
WHEREAS, funding is available in the FY97 budget for said purpose; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief and the EMS Division Chief recommed approval of this
request; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in the best
interests of the citizens and residents to apply for these grant funds from the Florida
Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTIQN 2. The City Manager is authorized to apply for grant funds in the
amount of $33,258.75 from the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services
Bureau of EMS, with a City match of $11,086.25, for a total project cost of $44,345.
SECTION 3: Upon approval of the grant from the Florida Department of
Rehabilitative Services Bureau of EMS, a resolution accepting the grant will be proposed
at that time.

.S--QTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5:, If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
5=ON : This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
