A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE
CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE THE FIRST AMEND-

MENT TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
TAMARAC AND THE BROWARD SHERIFF'S OFFICE
FOR ADDITIONAL PATROL SERVICES IN AN AREA
CONTIGUOUS TO TAMARAC DESCRIBED AS PATROL
ZONES 302, 303 AND 304; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.

1 9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
10 SECTION 1: That the appropriate City officials are
11 hereby authorized to execute the first amendment to the Agreement
32 between the City of Tamarac and the Broward Sheriff's Office for
13 additional patrol services in an area contiguous to Tamarac
14 described as Patrol Zones 302, 303 and 304, a copy of said agree-
15 ment is attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution as
16 "Exhibit 1".
17 SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective
18 immediately upon adoption. t�.-I;t-

FIRST ADDENDUM TO THE AGREEMENT FOR POLICE SERVICES
THIS ADDENDUM to the police services agreement entered
into by and between the CITY OF TAMARAC, a municipal corpora-
tion, hereinafter referred to as "CITY", and the SHERIFF OF
BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, .hereinaf ter referred to as "BSO"
this day of , 1991.
W I T N E S S E T H
WHEREAS, the CITY OF TAMARAC entered into an Agreement
with the BROWARD SHERIFF'S OFFICE for police services on June
14, 1989; and

WHEREAS, BSO presently patrols a section of unincorpor-
ated areas described as patrol zone 302; 303 and 304; as
described and shown in Exhibit "l" attached hereto and made a
part hereof; and
WHEREAS, CITY and BSO agree that patrol zones 302, 303
and 304 in the unincorporated area could be more efficiently
served if the administrative and operational responsibilities
were assumed by District XI, Tamarac, and

WHEREAS, both parties agree that a six month pilot
program should be instituted to test the effectiveness of
this program.
NOW., THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants
herein set forth and for other good and valuable considera-
tions, the receipt and legal sufficiency of which are hereby
acknowledged, it is hereby agreed as follows:
1. CITY's District XI will assume administrative and
operational responsibilities for the delivery of
police services to the unincorporated area •
currently designated as BSO patrol zones 302, 303
and 304.
2. BSO agrees to reassign thirteen (13) deputies to
District XI to accomplish the goals of this six
month pilot program.
3. It is agreed that a Selective Enforcement Team
(SET) shall be formed from the available pool of
deputies.

4. This addendum establishing the pilot program shall
in no way affect the current financial responsi-
bility of CITY under the basic service agreement.
CITY shall not be responsible for any increased
costs whatsoever as a result of assuming admini-
strative and operational responsibilities for the
deputies who will service zones 302, 303 and 304.
5. BSO shall continue to bear responsibility for the
funding of police services in the affected area,
i.e., zones 302, 303 and 304.
6. For the duration of this program outlined under
this addendum, the CITY and BSO agree that the
following sections of the basic service agreement
area amended as follows:
1.2.1. First Shift (midnight) :Ten-410 Eleven (11)
patrol units and at least on sergeant on duty seven (7) days
a week.
1.2.2. Second Shift (days) : Ten-419} Twelve (12)
patrol units and at least one sergeant on duty seven (7) days
a week.
1.2.3. Third Shift (evenings) : Twelve-4129 - Fourteen

(14) patrol units and at least one sergeant on duty seven
(7) days a week.

7. CITY and BSO agree that the duration of this pilot
program shall be for a period of six (6) months,
commencing January 1, 1991 and ending June 30,
1991. However, it is understood that depending on
the success of this pilot, the parties may mutually
agree to extend the program or adopt the program on
a permanent basis.
B. Pursuant to this addendum, CITY and BSO agree that
upon consultation and mutual agreement by the CITY
Manager and the District XI Commander, certain
operational adjustments may be made as deemed
necessary to achieve the goals of the pilot
program.
9. At the completion of the initial six (6) month
Pilot, BSO agrees to provide CITY with crime
statistics for evaluation of the effectiveness of
the program.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused their
respective agents to execute this instrument on their behalf
at the times set forth below.

302 ZONE - From Seaboard Railroad tracks east to Fort Lauderdale
and Oakland Park city limits (N.E. 6th Ave., N.E. 9th
Ave., Dixie Highway), and from N.E./N.W. 45th Street
north to the Cypress Creek (C-14) Canal. Also includes
the Village of Lazy Lake.
Note: I-95 and its right-of-way are in the City of
Oakland Park - from N.W. 45th Street to the
Cypress Creek Canal.
303 ZONE - Unincorporated areas between State Road $7 east to
Powerline Road, from N.W. 44th Street north to McNab
Road. Also includes Fern Forest Park.
304 ZONE - Unincorporated areas from State Road 07 west to Rock
Island Road, from N.W. 53rd Street north to McNab Road.
Please refer to attached maps that designate specific unincorporated
areas within each zone.
