CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-91- 1�51
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF HISPANIC HERITAGE
MONTH, OCTOBER, 1991; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Broward County is a mosaic of many cultures,
each with its own traditions, and together, the heart and
soul of Broward County; and
WHEREAS, part of this colorful mosaic is the pride of
the Hispanic heritage which is evident in our community
through the contribution of the rich Hispanic culture, and
the recognition of the achievements which have been made in
the furtherance of Hispanic appreciation; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to preserve the richness of this
culture and to foster mutual respect and understanding among
all peoples, this State and the Nation have set aside an
entire month of recognition, celebration and appreciation to
be known as Hispanic Heritage Month; and
WHEREAS, this year Hispanic Unity of Florida, Inc., the
presenter of the very first Hispanic Festival in Broward
County, HISPANICFEST '88, will celebrate Hispanic Heritage
with the full cooperation of the many Hispanic business and
professional organizations -in Broward County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City Council, in conjunction with
the other governmental bodies, agencies, organizations and
businesses, hereby extends its support to the concept and the
intent of Hispanic Heritage Month to be celebrated in OCTOBER

1991, and urges all schools, centers and departments within
its jurisdiction to support this community -wide observance.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become of fecti.ve
immediately upon adoption.
