CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R--91"�_7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING A RECOGNITION AND
MEMORIAL TREE PROGRAM; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is committed to a continu-
ing program of city beautification and tree preservation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is committed to education
relating to the benefits of preserving urban trees. and
improving the environment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is committed to implement-
ing the xeriscape principles as outlined by the South Florida
Water Management District; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac City Council recognizes that there
are individuals who desire to donate funds in recognition
and/or memory of loved ones; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac hereby wishes to create a
Recognition and Memorial Tree Program, supporting
beautification and preservation; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac Comprehensive Plan in the Conser-
vation Element sets forth policies for the protection of
trees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 : That the Tamarac City Council hereby
creates and establishes a Recognition and/or Memorial Tree
Program. The Tree Program shall provide individuals the
ability to donate funds to the City for the purchase and
planting of trees in recognition and/or memory of a loved

one.

SECTION 2 : The following Program guidelines are hereby
established:
A. Trees may be planted in City parks, median strips
and on other City -owned property.
B. An individual desiring to have a tree planted in
recognition and/or memory of a loved one shall
donate funds for the purchase of the tree. The
Community Development Department shall review
species availability and cost and shall annually
recommend to the City Council a list of trees and
cost to donors.
C. The donor applicant shall be required to complete
an application request form available from the
Community Development Department.
D. The donor shall have the right to request a site on
which the tree may be planted which site shall be
subject to final approval by the Community
Development Department.
E. Each donor shall be recognized on an honor roll
which shall be maintained in the City Clerk's
office and each donor shall receive a certificate
honoring the donor's loved one.

SECTION 3 : This resolution shall become effective
immediately upon adoption.
