RESOLUTION NO: R-91—

A RESOLUTION ENDORSING CRITERIA APPLICABLE
TO CITY OF TAMARAC STREET LIGHTING; AND
S PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, adequate street lighting is required for the
e
safety and welfare of the residents of Tamarac; and

WHEREAS, the City Code stipulates pursuant to Section
30 34-334E+j1+ 10-191 that the City Engineer and the franchise
11
electric utility shall approve the design for street lighting;

and

WHEREAS;-the-eriteria--being-used-by-the-Eity-Bag#near

for-installation-of-street-lighte-has-resulted-in-mumereus

16 WHEREAS; -the--ehange--€rom-mereury-vaper-te-high-pressure

1 WHEREAS Florida Power & Light has changed their standards
2C for 9500 Lumen street lights from cobra head style lamps to
23 open bottom style lams and
22 WHEREAS, the Director of Utilities/Engineering has re-
23 commended the following criteria:

25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
26 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
27 SECTION 1: That for residential areas having 50 feet or
26 60 feet wide Right -of -Way, the additional street lights shall
29 be 9500 Lumen eebra-head 'open bottom style lamps , 30 foot
30 poles, with 6 foot brackets located at each street inter-
3 section; and at locations where location of streets sub-
3 :' stantially changes (or at canal crossings) spaced 165 feet to
33 215 feet center to center.

SECTION 2: That main roads having 80 foot or wider
Right -of -Way, the additional street lights shall be 22,000
Lumen cobra head style lamps , on 35 foot poles, with 8 foot
brackets located with two (2) at each four-way intersection
diagonally across from each other, and spaced 200 feet to
275 feet center to center.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.
