CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-89-�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC
REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR AND CABINET TO
RESPECT ADOPTED LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMPREHEN-
SIVE LAND USE PLANS WHEN ACTING AS THE SITING
BOARD UNDER THE TRANSMISSION LINE SITING ACT;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City of Tamarac and Broward County adopted
binding comprehensive land use plans over ten years ago
providing for urban land uses; and
WHEREAS, Florida Power & Light is proposing a new
corridor for high power transmission lines through or
adjacent to existing and planned urban areas without a regard
for or consideration of the Broward County and the City of
Tamarac adopted comprehensive land use plans; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Environmental Regulation Commission
on January 19,•1989 adopted a position encouraging the siting
of new transmission lines in a manner that will consolidate
such lines within existing corridors, and encouraging that
new corridors should be planned in coordination with land use
plans of local governments in order to attempt to avoid
siting such new corridors through residential areas; NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 That the Governor and Cabinet, acting as
the Siting Board under the Transmission Line Siting Act,
implement the Resolution of the Florida Environmental
Regulation Commission and locate any new corridor in an area
that is not in proximity to the planned urban areas of the
City of Tamarac.

SECTION 2 : This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.
