R-88-_LOI A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE DECEMBER 9, 1987 AGREEMENT WITH SCHARF AND ASSOCIATES, INCORPORATED AND THE CITY OF TAMARAC FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF TAMARAC PUBLIC UTILITIES/ ENGINEERING COMPLEX ON NOB HILL ROAD; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to execute an amendment to the December 9, 1987, agreement with Scharf and Associates, Incorporated and the City of Tamarac for architectural services for the City of Tamarac Public Utilities/Engineering Complex on Nob Hill Road, a copy of said agreement being attached hereto as "Exhibit 111. (hereinafter "ARCHITECT"), a Florida Corporation entered into an Agreement dated December 9, 1987 for Architectural Services relating to the City of Tamarac Public Utilities/Engineering Complex on Nob Hill • Road; and WHEREAS, Section 6 of the December 9, 1987 Agreement between the CITY and ARCHITECT provides that the Agreement may be amended by written amendment; and WHEREAS, on February 17, 1988 the CITY approved an additional six thousand five hundred ($6,500) dollars in compensation to the ARCHITECT for redesigning the Public Utilities/Engineering Complex on Nob Hill Road contingent upon the submittal of an amended agreement between the CITY and ARCHITECT: and WHEREAS, the CITY and ARCHITECT wish to enter into this Amendment to the December 9, 1987 Agreement between CITY and . ARCHITECT outlining the additional services and compensation --1- it �_ S'011>_ /© / ri required for the City of Tamarac Public Utilities/Engineering Complex on Nab Hill Road; now therefore, WITNESSETH, IN CONSIDERATION of the mutual terms and conditions, promises, covenants and payment hereinafter set forth, CITY and ARCHITECT agree as follows: 1. That the December 9, 1987 Agreement between the CITY and ARCHITECT for Architectural Services for the City of Tamarac Public Utilities/Engineering Complex on Land Section 7 is hereby amended to provide that the ARCHITECT will undertake the following additional services: A. --The -ARCHITECT shall. revise the construction • plans to delete the customer service portion of the project in its entirety. B. Additionally, the construction plans and site plan shall be amended to reduce the area of the Utilities/Engineering Department as outlined in Construction Management Services, Inc. letter of February 8, 1988, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A". C. The existing ,staff locker room shall be deleted from the approved construction plans. D. The construction plans shall be amended to show all deleted areas as future expansion. -2- /,y,s^ • E. Additionally, the ARCHITECT shall delete. from the site plan the forty (40) parking spaces related to customer service/future expansion in the southeast corner of the site. The area occupied by the parking spaces shall be shown in dotted line fashion as future expansion. 2. CITY and ARCHITECT agree that the ARCHITECT shall receive additional compensation totaling six thou- sand five hundred ($6,500) dollars for the addi- tional services outlined in paragraph 1, above. 3. Construction Management Services, Inc., has reviewed the "Approved Schematics" dated January 8, 1988, but revised according to comments of January 20, 1988. These drawings were received in vur office January 26, 1988. ! After our review to determine the department areas and the percentage share of camnon areas and related costs, we net with the Contract Administrator, Mr. John Kelly, on February 3, 1988, to discuss the budgets. It was determined that there was no sharing of budget dollars and that the Utilities Department would have to make cuts. Therefore, we recommend that the Utilities Department plans be changed, not in concept, relationship or flow but according to the following reductions to the Administration areas and to bid several site item as alternates to bring Utilities within their budget: A. Site; goal is to reduce site costs $70,000. 1. Reduce Utilities developed acres. 2. Covered field bays to be a construction alternate. 3. Media bins for Utilities to be a construction alternate. 4. Covered pipe storage to be a construction alternate. Nr7►PE: Grit drying bed and Chemical Storage are to remain in base bid. Quantity Surveyors •C mtructioan Managers i . The above are suggested required reductions to bring Utility areas in line with the Utilities Budget. Our goal is to delete excessive space.
