CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-88-�
A RESOLUTION CONCERNING A PROPOSED CAPITAL
EXPENDITURE AFFECTING ALL RESIDENTS OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC; PROPOSING AN EXPENDITURE FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MULTI -PURPOSE RECREA-
TIONAL CENTER FOR THE CITY OF TAMARAC AT A
COST NOT TO EXCEED ONE MILLION TWO HUNDRED
THOUSAND DOLLARS SAID FUNDS TO BE PRIMARILY
DERIVED FROM THE CITY'S EXISTING RECREATIONAL
IMPACT FEE FUND; PROVIDING THAT A REFERENDUM
IS TO BE HELD ON THE MARCH 8, 1988 GENERAL
ELECTIONS CONDUCTED BY THE BROWARD COUNTY
SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS; PROVIDING THAT IF A
MAJORITY OF VOTERS APPROVE THE EXPENDITURE,
THEN UPON CERTIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE
ELECTION RESULTS THE APPROPRIATE CITY
OFFICIALS SHALL BE AUTHORIZED TO MAKE THE
EXPENDITURE OF THE APPROVED FUNDS FOR THE NEW
MULTI- PURPOSE RECREATIONAL CENTER; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY OF INVALID PROVISIONS; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 7.13 of the City Charter requires
referendum approval by the voters for any appropriation of
City funds for capital expenditures which cost the City in
excess of two and one- half percent (2- 1/2%) of the current
budget; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires for the public to
determine if the appropriation should be made to construct a
Multi --Purpose Recreational Center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has. determined that the
proposed capital project is in the best interest of the
residents of the City of Tamarac.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 : The following capital expenditure is to be
presented to the electorate of the City of Tamarac on the
March 8, 1988 General Election conducted by the Broward
County Supervisor of Elections. If the proposed expenditure
is approved by a majority of the electorate at said election
and upon the certification and acceptance of the election
results, the appropriate City Officials shall be authorized
to approve the expenditure of funds for the capital
expenditure project. The capital expenditure referendum
question shall be in substantially the following form:

CONSTRUCT A CITY OF TAMARAC
MULTI -PURPOSE RECREATIONAL CENTER.
A capital expenditure is proposed for the
construction of a new City of Tamarac Multi -
Purpose Recreational Center in an amount not to
exceed One Million Two Hundred Thousand
($1,200,000.00) Dollars said funds to be
primarily derived from the City of Tamarac
existing Recreational Impact Fee Fund.
ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF' AUTHORIZING THE CITY COUNCIL
TO PROCEED WITH THIS CAPITAL PROJECT?

SECTION 2 The City Manager and the City Clerk are
hereby authorized to take the appropriate steps to insure the
placement of the above mentioned referendum question on the
March 8, 1988 City of Tamarac General Election Ballot.
SECTION 3 Should any section or provision of this
resolution or any portion hereof or any paragraph, sentence
or word be declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to
be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of
the remainder hereof as a whole or any part hereof other than
the part declared to be invalid.
SECTION 4 This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.
