CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-88-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC TO BE
DIRECTED TO THE BROWARD OFFICE OF THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, THE
BROWARD COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION, THE
BROWARD COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, ALL
CITIES IN BROWARD COUNTY AND ANY AND ALL
AGENCIES INTERESTED AND CONCERNED WITH
MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF
TRAVELERS USING THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE;
PROVIDING FOR A RECOMMENDATION THAT THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ERECT
SIGNS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS PRIOR TO REACHING
ANY AND ALL EXITS FROM THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE
IN BROWARD COUNTY, WHICH SIGNS SHALL
INDICATE THE NAME OF THE CITY OR CITIES THE
MOTORIST WILL BE EXITING INTO; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes the problems of
motorists using the Florida Turnpike when they are trying to
locate the proper exit they should use; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac
thoroughly discussed this matter at its meeting held June 8,
1988; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac has
concluded that with the constant growth and expansion of
cities located relatively close to the Turnpike, thousands of
people exit every day into areas that are not properly
identified; and
WHEREAS, driving today requires all the help and con-
sideration that the motorists can be given to help reduce the
number of unnecessary highway accidents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Tamarac
hereby requests the Florida Department of Transportation to
immediately arrange for the erection of the proper signs at
the approaches to every exit on the Florida Turnpike in
Broward County designating the name of the city or cities
adjacent to the various exits from the Turnpike.

SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
alerts all other interested parties named in the forepart of
this Resolution and seeks their help and support in allevi-
ating this hazardous situation.
