CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION CONCERNING A PROPOSED CAPITAL
EXPENDITURE AFFECTING ALL RESIDENTS OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC; PROPOSING AN EXPENDITURE FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF A PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING
FOR THE CITY OF TAMARAC AT A COST NOT TO
EXCEED ONE MILLION NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($1,900,000.00) FUNDS TO BE PRIMARILY
DERIVED FROM THE SALE OF THE EXISTING PUBLIC
WORKS SITE; PROVIDING THAT A REFERENDUM IS TO
BE HELD ON JUNE 16, 1987; AS PART OF THE
ELECTION CONDUCTED BY THE BROWARD COUNTY
SCHOOL BOARD; PROVIDING THAT IF A MAJORITY OF
VOTERS APPROVE THE EXPENDITURE, THEN UPON
CERTIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE ELECTIONT
RESULTS THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS SHALL
BE AUTHORIZED TO MAKE THE EXPENDITURE OF THE
APPROVED FUNDS FOR THE NEW PUBLIC WORKS
BUILDING; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY OF
INVALID PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 7.13 of the City Charter requires
referendum approval by the voters for any appropriation of
City funds' -for capital expenditures in excess of two and one-
half percent (2 1/2%) of the current budget; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires for the public to
determine if the appropriation should be made to construct a
Public Works building; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the
proposed capital project is in the best interest of the
residents of the City of Tamarac.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the following capital expenditure is to
be presented to the electorate of the City of Tamarac in the
June 16, 1987 election conducted by the Broward County School
Board and if the proposed expenditure is approved by a
majority of the electorate at said election the appropriate
City Officials shall be authorized to approve the expenditure
of the approved funds for the approved capital project:

A capital expenditure is proposed for the con-
struction of a new Tamarac public works building in an
amount not to exceed One Million Nine Hundred Thousand
Dollars ($1,900,000.00). Funds to be primarily derived
from the sale of the existing Public Works site.
ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF AUTHORIZING THE CITY COUNCIL TO
PROCEED WITH THIS CAPITAL PROJECT?
YES

SECTION 2: Should any section or provision of this
resolution or any portion hereof or any paragraph, sentence
or word be declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to
be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of
the remainder hereof as a whole or any part hereof other than
the part declared to be invalid.
SECTION 3: This resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and the appropriation to be
placed on the June 16, 1987, ballot during the election
conducted by the Broward County School Board.
