CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-87- /0 9
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE FLORIDA HIGH
SPEED RAIL PROJECT AND ENCOURAGING DEVELOP-
MENT- OF A RAIL SYSTEM TERMINAL IN BROWARD
COUNTY;. AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the State of Florida has appointed a High Speed
Rail Transportation Commission to oversee the planning,
financing and building of a high speed rail system in the
State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Florida High Speed Rail Transportation
Commission has produced a study recommending a high speed
rail system routed over a major rail corridor from Tampa to
Orlando to Miami extending through Broward County; and
WHEREAS, this system can bring the greatest economic and
transportation benefit to the citizens of Broward County and
its millions of visitors with a system terminal located in
Broward County; and
WHEREAS, Broward County, a county of over 1.2 million
residents represents a major economic interest to the usage
and success of a Florida High Speed Rail System; and
WHEREAS, planning, proposing, evaluating and
implementing a high speed rail system with a terminal in
Broward County will require the support and cooperation of
Broward's public and private sectors; and
WHEREAS, the Broward High Speed Rail Task Force, a
coalition of Broward Citizens representing the public and
private sectors has been formed to coordinate Broward Coun-
ty's role in the Florida High Speed Rail project.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
-SECTION 1: That the high speed rail transportation
system proposed by the Florida High Speed Rail Transportation
Commission is hereby endorsed as a new and vital transporta-
tion link of great economic development benefit to the state.
SECTION 2: That a high speed rail system terminal
located in Broward County is strongly encouraged and must be
a part of the high speed rail system if the system is to be
fully accessible and beneficial to the citizens and visitors
of Florida.
SECTION 3: That the City of Tamarac hereby offers its
continuing support and encouragement to the Florida High
Speed Rail Transportation Commission and the Broward High
Speed Rail Task Force in the planning and development of the
high speed rail system.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.
