CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-87-Z2-12-
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT BETWEEN BROWARD COMMUNITY COLLEGE
AND THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, PERTAINING
TO POLICE TRAINING AT THE BROWARD COUNTY
POLICE ACADEMY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
hereby approves an Agreement between the City of Tamarac and
Broward Community College, pertaining to police training at
the Broward County Police Academy, attached hereto and made a
part hereof as Exhibit "A";
SECTION 2: That the appropriate City Officials are
hereby authorized to execute said Agreement.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon adoption.

AGREEMENT BETWEEN BROWARD COMMUNITY COLLEGE
AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF _ 4A14R4_C-
A POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA
Pursuant to the Tri-Party Agreement entered into by Broward
Community College (hereafter referred to as "College"), the
School Board of Broward County (hereafter referred to as
"Board"), and the Broward County Chiefs of Police this
Association (hereafter referred to as "Association"),
agreement between the College and the Municipality of
(hereafter referred to as
"City") is entered into to set forth in further detail the
duties and responsibilities of the College and the City in
this cooperative effort involving the Police Academy portion
and other training programs of the Criminal Justice
Institute program.
DEFINITIONS:
"Criminal Justice Institute" means the academic
division within the College which is supervised by
the Director, Criminal Justice Institute, who reports
to the Dean of Academic Affairs, Central Campus. It
is further defined to mean that configuration of
programs and courses, including but not limited to,
the following elements: police academy, corrections
• academy, criminal justice testing center, criminal
justice degree (A.S. and A.A.) programs, certificate
programs in police science and corrections, career
development training, advanced training, in-service
training, specialized training, fire science
technology degree and certificate programs, and such
other programs and courses as the District Board of
Trustees of the College may from time to time assign
to the Institute.
"Police Academy" means that block of courses and
training activities for entry level minimum preparation
for an individual to assume the duties of a police
officer. It is further defined to include that specific
configuration of training within the Criminal Justice
Institute which is funded by the Board as a part of
the area vocational school program in association
and coordination with the College.
"Corrections Academy" means that block of courses and
training activities for entry level minimum preparation
for an individual to assume the duties of a corrections
officer. It is further defined to include such other
_LL�programs and courses as the District Board of Trustees
of the College may from time to time assign to it.
"Criminal Justice Degree (A.S. and A.A.) and
Certificate Programs" mean that collection of courses
approved through normal College academic processes
and so designated.
"Criminal Justice Testing Center" means the function
of officially administering standardized tests required
for public safety officers prior to their being
certified for specified duties and responsibilities.
"Career Development Training, Advanced Training,
In -Service Training, and Specialized Training" mean
that which is defined in Rules of the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement, Section 11-B-29,
pursuant to Florida Statute 943.
"Fire Science Technology Degree and Certificate
Programs" means that collection of courses approved
through normal College academic processes and so
designated.
It is hereby mutually agreed as follows:
1. For each student enrolled by the City for
training in the College's Police Academy, the
City shall remit the amount for this block of work as
set forth in the College's policy or catalog. The City
shall provide an official list of the persons
it is sponsoring under this arrangement.
2. The College shall see that instruction is given
in the Police Academy as set forth in Appendix I
for this program. It is understood that each
person so assigned by the City shall be able
to earn up to nine semester hours of College
credit.
3. The College shall provide all necessary laboratory
equipment and supplies in connection with the
Police Academy training herein contracted for and as
set forth as Appendix I.
4. Any personnel assigned by the City to work within
the College's Criminal Justice Institute must
have the approval of the College's Director.
Further, any personnel assigned by the City shall
be covered by professional liability insurance
paid for by the City.
5. Any equipment provided by the City for use by the
Criminal Justice Institute shall be inventoried
(� as set forth as Appendix II to this document.

under this arrangement shall be covered by the
College's insurance.
6. Fees for personnel of the City, whose matriculation or
tuition and other fees are paid for by the City,
shall be remitted by the City with an official list of
the authorized personnel for enrollment in the
college's courses in addition to those
stipulated in 1 above. The fees charged
shall be those normal for those courses as set
forth in the college's catalog and official
policy.
7. This agreement shall remain in full force and
effect annually until and unless ninety days of
the anniversary date written notice by either
party hereto is received indicating a desire to
have the agreement amended or a desire to
terminate the agreement.
